CBSE Sahodaya School Complexes 16th National Annual Conference 2009 from 09 to 11 December 2009 was organized by the Sahodaya School Complexes (Gurgaon Chapter).

5th Annual Conference (2007-08)
Theme 'Globalisation of Education and its impact on Indian Economy and Society'.
The fifth Annual Conference of Gurgaon Progressive Schools Council and CBSE Sahodaya Schools Complexes, Gurgaon Chapter was held on Saturday, 25th Feb 2006 at Fortune Select Global Hotel, M.G. Road, Gurgaon. Around 20 schools and 150 Principals and teachers of Gurgaon attended the conference on 'Globalisation of Education and its impact on Indian Economy and Society'. Prof MA Khadder, who is the Head curriculum group NCERT inaugurated the programme after being welcomed by Dr. Indu Khetarpal. The Annual Report was read by Ms Suman Gulati.
The audience was introduced to National Curriculum Framework 2005 which aims at child centric learning, as against textbook centric learning, which is the order of the day. The views were further substantiated by a talk delivered by Dr. Sadhana Parashar, Education Officer CBSE. This was followed by an address by Dr. Prasad V Medury, Managing Director, Silicon Graphics Systems Private Ltd, on the need for a collaboration between industry and academic forum, to associate education at school level with the corporate world in an age of globalization. He reinforced the idea that the challenges before the teachers of the country are manifold, since global economy and positive direction are the long term goals in the larger world. Under such circumstances students should be encouraged to express their views by liberating them from the fear of criticism.
Eminent historian Prof. Bipin Chandra, Chairman, National Book Trust, India addressed the audience reminding them of the lessons history has taught us. He said that the intellectual renaissance which had left a profound social impact in the 19th century has substantiated the fact that by using logical discretion in adopting new ideas, we may forge ahead towards a healthier environment.
Shri Sushil Dutt, Advocate, Supreme Court of India, enlightened on the Education Bill. He urged the management of schools to increase the level of transparency.
Prof C Baxi, Director MDl, Gurgaon expressed his apprehension on the quality of education being imparted today and showed his concerns of training for the teachers.
Mr. G Balasubramanian, Director (Academics) CBSE, delivered the valedictory address on globalisation - threats and opportunities. According to him each child, who is a human resource should be equipped with EQ (Emotional Quotient) and SQ (Skill Quotient) besides IQ (Intelligence Quotient) for an overall holistic development.
The conference concluded with the vote of thanks given by Ms Anita Makkar, DAV Public School.
4th Annual Conference (2006-07) - Theme 'Disha - The Direction'
The Fourth Annual Conference of CBSE Sahodaya School Complexes, Gurgaon Chapter, called 'Disha-The Direction' was held at Bristol Hotel, Gurgaon on 19th February 2005.
The conference commenced on an enthusiastic note with the inaugural and key note address by Mr. Ashok Ganguly, Chairman CBSE. "Catalytic Educational Leadership"which was the subject of his speech, made for truly interesting and enriching listening. Quality in the educational sector, according to Mr. Ganguly, is to be achieved through a new world order in which a nation's 'intelligentsia' will be the index of its economic wealth.
Traditional views ought to be replaced by a co-operative networking approach wherein re-engineering, benchmarking, high accountability and creation of new opportunities will find place. Teachers, who play the multi-dimensional role of a designer, facilitator and stewards must transform into entrepreneurs. Mr. Ganguly further advocated learning through interaction at three levels (learner-teacher, learner-peer group, learner-self) absolutely sound and most imperative. Focussing on the qualities of educational leaders he reiterated the need for developing a magnetic personality for motivating and inspiring people.
The mesmerizing introductory session was followed by enlightening speeches shared by noted educationists like Mr. R P Sharma, Education Officer CBSE (Science), Mr. P Mani, Education Officer CBSE (Languages), Dr. Pritam Singh, Director MDI and Prof. Yashpal, Former Chairperson UGC the common string of all their speeches being the need to equip the present generation with strategies and skills to face challenges of a society which is constantly under flux.
Mr. R P Sharma, speaking in the direction of thrust areas and expectations in Science and Mathematics education advocated the need for concretizing learning through practical work, application of concepts, mathematics laboratory and encouraging participation in Mathematics Olympiad conducted by CBSE.
Mr. Mani categorically brought out enhanced self-esteem, social sensitivity, self awareness and development of listening and communication skills as some of the expected outcomes of life skills education. Providing a global exposure to children and having a Himalayan Vision on the part of educational institutions, were the focal points of Dr. Pritam Singh's talk.
In the concluding session by Prof. Yashpal, the role of education in helping the present generation to imbibe, assimilate, think and explore, keeping in mind the ultimate goal of better adaptability to the fast changing socio-politico-economic scenario, was emphasized upon.
3rd Annual Conference (2005-06) - Theme 'Festive X-Pression 2004: Book Festival
GPSC organized a mega event - Fest-Xpression 2004 Book Carnival in collaboration with the Federation of Publishers and Book Sellers Association of India from 15-17 January, 2004. His Excellency Babu Parmanand the Governor of Haryana inaugurated the Carnival.
Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Director (Academics) CBSE, was the Chief Guest for the closing function. About 60 publishers put up their stalls. The venue was Salwan Public School, Gurgaon.
2nd Annual Conference (2004-05)
Theme 'Future Trends in Education'.
The annual conference of GPSC was held on 7th February 2003. The theme of this conference was "Future Trends in Education''. It was inaugurated by Dr S.K.Qureshi, Director General Doordarshan.
Prof. Marmar Mukhopadhyay gave a vivid presentation on development beyond academics. He emphasized the creation of the Paradise of Emotional Learning as the Future Trend in education. Ms Parma Bose, former HOD History department, Dr G.S Negi, Principal, Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan also addressed the conference.
Mr. G. Balasubramanian, Director (Academics) once again revived the Sahodaya School Complexes, Gurgaon Chapter. It was decided that all academics and extra curricular activities will be conducted under the CBSE Sahodaya and legal matter pertaining to the Government, under the Gurgaon Progressive Schools' Council.
1st Annual Conference (2003-04) - Theme 'The Haryana School Education Act (HSEA)
The council organised a meeting with Shri M.K.Miglani IAS, Financial Commissioner and Secretary, Department of Education, Haryana in May 2001. He discussed the Haryana Education Act which was promulgated on 4th June 1999.
